4th July 1964: Sam finds himself as a thirteen year old boy, Butchie Rickett, stuck in a car for a nine-thousand mile road trip across the States with his family. While holding out against his bullying older sister, Alex, Sam must find a way to keep his parents’ marriage together, as his mother, Emma, is due to run out on them. Sam’s mission is made harder when they visit a western theme park in Colorado and run into Emma’s old flame from high school, Bill McCann; Sam tries to keep the two of them apart as their romance begins to rekindle – but fate seems to have other ideas…
